The Vietnam Red Cross Society has decided to provide emergency relief and financial assistance worth VND420 million to the three hard-hit provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Son La. The agency also sent missions to the affected areas to assist local relief efforts.

In Lai Chau province, landslides and floods occurred due to heavy rains which lasted from late September 2 to the afternoon of the next day, leaving three dead and missing. In Muong Te district, floods and landslide blocked most of the roads to the centre of the district.
