The State leader made the statement while addressing a ceremony to mark the 30thanniversary of the VRTC (March 7, 1988-2018) in Hanoi on March 7, which was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantain Vnukov.

He congratulated the VRTC on the anniversary of its foundation, stressing that the centre has affirmed its role as an important multidisciplinary science-technology research institution on the tropical issues in Vietnam and Russia, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendly relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
President Quang asked the centre to harmoniously combine basic research, applied research, and technology transfer in service of defence and economic tasks; to step up the application of research results and the development of a number of products with high scientific and technological content; and to enhance its cooperation in research activities, in-depth investment, and the modernisation of infrastructure and technology.

The leader asked the Ministry of Defence and the agencies concerned to create favourable conditions for the centre to develop more and more vigorously, whilst calling for further support from the State and relevant bodies of Russia in order to help the centre to gain more significant achievements, for the benefits of the people of Vietnam and Russia.
He expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre would continue to effectively implement the motto of “cooperative, creative, efficient and substantive” and strive to achieve greater results, thus deserving to be a leading scientific and technological research centre of both Vietnam and Russia.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Quang presented the Military Exploit Order, third class to the VRTC, and the Friendship Order to Andrey Kuznetsov, director general of the VRTC’s Russian division./.
